Cranberry Red and White, Creating a Classic Bouquet

Today I delivered this beatiful bouquet to Bexley, Ohio... composed of deep red gerbera daisies with white roses to create a very romantic, classic look.  I used an amazing large white rose called Rose 'Proud' which stood up nicely to the very large deep red gerbera daisies.  From my garden, I collected cone flowers and removed the petals from them to show off the spiky texture of the cones for accents.  Italian ruscus, one of my favorite foliages, was added for a touch of green. 

Up-close and personal... here's a good look at the flower selections used in the bride's bouquet.  I loved the added twist created by the coneflower heads.  Using these suddenly turned this bouquet into something unique and out-of-the-ordinary!

Bold Blue and Silver Bouquets... these rocked!

Showing off Christy's deep marine-blue and silver wedding colors in her flowers was our priority when selecting the types of flowers to be used in this beautiful July wedding.  Bridesmaids wore marine-blue dresses, so we used white roses and white spray roses for a contrast, with pops of deep blue eryngium (aka sea holly) and dendobiums, as well as silver painted eryngium circling the base of each bouquet next to the silver satin ribbon.  The texture and color of the deep blue sea holly up against the white roses were amazing!

I loved this unique color combination of Pink & Gold

When I started working with Barbara to come up with a plan for her wedding flowers, I immediately fell in love with her unique color combination of soft pink and gold.  We looked at several images together to help me understand her vision and her overall style, and this is what we came up with... hope you love it too!


This is one of the bridesmaid's bouquets composed of peonies, carnations, and roses.  The vintage brooch, provided by the bride was the perfect finishing touch.  She selected a unique brooch for each of her 5 bridesmaids, including a frog, a pineapple, a lizard, a starfish, and one other that eludes me at the moment. 



This is one of the grandmother's corsages.  I used gold wire spiraling the length of the stems over top of the gold ribbon wrap for added pizzaz.

The bride selected wrist corsages for the mothers, composed of pale pink roses and ranunculus.  I created the gold swirl accent ... and was very excited about the way it turned out!

More tissue paper!!  I have used tissue paper in one way or another for the last three weddings I have done.  These looked beautiful lining both sides of the aisle.

This bride choose an all ivory rose bouquet.  I was amazed by the transformation of it once this spectacular vintage brooch was added... went from understated to glam!

This is one of the table centerpieces for the reception... continuing the soft pink theme with roses, carnations, peonies, and ranunculus!

Hot Pink Dendrobiums... something you don't see everyday!

This past weekend, I designed flowers for this beautiful blushing bride who had an ivory and hot pink wedding theme.  Dendrobiums do not come in this color naturally, so I used a floral spray paint to alter the color, and was thrilled by the result!  Spray paint can totally wreck flowers if you're not careful.  These turned out perfectly!  Enjoy the pics....

A simple artificial hot pink gerber was added to the back of each chair for a punch of pink!

This is one of her centerpieces.  We used a spray of bear grass in each to coordinate with the grass used in her bouquet.

Another affordable creation made of tissue paper!  Would've cost four times as much if we had used real flowers!

A New Creation from the Garden... love it!

This bouquet, created for a friend, was made entirely from perennial flowers grown in my garden in Marysville, OH!  The bright indigo blues of three different flowers combine to make a bold and splendid combo, and are accented by a single pink peony in the front.  I absolutely love this blue color.

The pink spikes draping above the pink peony are one of my favorite perennials, Agastache.  I also added in hints of coral colored honeysuckle.

Using Fresh Flowers from My Garden

This week I gathered fresh flowers from my garden for a small simple bouquet.   I am always amazed at the beauty of perennial flowers, colorful leaves, and flowering shrubs & trees. 



This lovely little bouquet was made of bachelor button, pink azalea, forget-me-nots, helleborus, and heuchera and hosta leaves.  (and this is me in the pic)

Considering Artificial Flowers for your Wedding?

When a friend asked me about 10 years ago if I was going to have artificial flowers for my wedding, I turned my nose up to it, and said "NEVER!"  Since then, artificial/faux florals have made huge improvements in fooling the eye, especially if you're turning to a professional who knows the best sources for life-like, or the so-called "natural-touch" flowers.  You'll likely be disappointed if you're looking in big chain craft stores for your florals, but don't let that deter you from going with faux, if that is your wish.  As a floral design consultant, I have all of the resources to make your faux flowers look fabulous!

This is my latest faux creation, using fuschia gerber daisies, yellow callas, and orange zinnias.  So bright and cheery for spring or summer... this bouquet is sure to catch the eye, and would look fantastic as a bride's bouquet, or even for a bridesmaid. 

Not only do you have the advantage of keeping your bouquet as a special momento, by selecting artificial flowers, you'll also enjoy the perks of selecting from a multitude of colors which may not be available in fresh flowers, as well as the opportunity to have exactly the type of flower you want, even when out of season!

The lime green jem added the perfect finishing touch to dress up this long-stemmed faux bouquet!

Coral and Diamond Blue Wedding Theme

I attended a fun event at Alfred Angelo's Bridal Shop in Dublin, OH last week!  On display, I showcased a beautiful and modern bouquet in coral and diamond blue colors. 




The roses selected here, named "papaya" were surrounded by coordinating berries and spikes of liriope for a unique twist.

  

I love these hot pink ones!  This very tall vase was filled with 50 long stemmed roses.





A Timeless Tiffany Blue & Red Wedding in New York

Last weekend, we travelled to beautiful Chataqua County in New York state to attend and design the florals for a cool March wedding! 



The bride's deep red pomander, composed of roses, gerber daisies, and anemonies was accented with tiffany blue beads and satin ribbon.

Long spikes of blue delphinium, surrounded by white and red roses, white hypericum berries, and red anemonies were used in the bridal party bouquets, hand-tied and wrapped in a very special red-rose ribbon in combination with tiffany blue ribbon streamers.

The church was decorated with tissue paper pomanders running the entire length of the aisle, a perfect solution for this bride on a budget!  We made these by hand ahead of time and stored them carefully until the big day!

 

 Such fun table arrangements... extra tall vases filled with curly red branches, anchored with white sand.
